Seat Belts

Seat belt violations occur when a police officer fails to wear a seat belt while operating a police vehicle. This can include not wearing a seat belt while driving, or failing to ensure that all passengers in the vehicle are wearing seat belts. Seat belt violations by police officers can put them and others at risk and can harm the image of the police department. In many jurisdictions, seat belt laws apply to all drivers, including police officers, and failure to wear a seat belt can result in a citation. Additionally, some police departments may have their own policies requiring officers to wear seat belts while on duty.
