Insubordination

Insubordination occurs when a police officer fails to follow the lawful orders of their superiors or refuses to perform their duties as instructed. This can include disobeying direct orders, failing to comply with departmental policies, or engaging in other acts of disobedience. Insubordination by police officers can harm the effectiveness of the police department and undermine the authority of their superiors, leading to harm to public trust in law enforcement.
