In February 2022, Sheriff Acree obtained a room at Lake Barkley State Park claiming he needed it for a drug investigation. He received the room at no charge.
It was determined during the investigation the room was not used for official business, but was used for personal business.
Restitution was made to Lake Barkley State Park before the November 28, 2023 court hearing in which he entered into the plea agreement. In this agreement, he admitted this infraction. First-degree official misconduct was the misdemeanor in the accepted plea.
He was sentenced to twelve months in jail, which was conditionally discharged provided he has no other violations.
A $500.00 fine was assessed which he paid, along with court costs.
