Public Complaint No. 1701712944 - 2045511892

Statement

I was traveling from the hospital with my dad whom we had just found out he had cancer, and an officer was parked with his lights off across the street and pulled out behind me and pulled me over with no prior reasoning. I was driving my fiancée's car which was in her name and it was 11 o'clock at night. And windows were tinted. But claim that he could see me and said. I had a warrant and knew I didn't have a Driver's license. My fiance had a weapon in the car and that was used as a reason to impound the vehicle and get a search warrant to remove, but also they used a clear tube that was in the vehicle to also search for drugs. I had also had 2 interactions with this officer prior and this officer knew that I had a warrant and did not arrest me and did not tell me that I had a warrant or that I needed to take care of anything. Which violated my due process. And And prolonged my risk to criminal liability. My fiancé had arrived on scene and could have taken control of the vehicle, but instead they pursued to impound the vehicle, which should have been their last resort. It was clear that it was a pretextual stop to search My fiance's car. Also in the discovery, the officer and his partner had completely different stories as to how this stop began and slotzve is heard on camera debating whether or not to impound the vehicle and admitted that the tube had no evidence of drug use or clear signs of being paraphernalia.
