On or about the 20th of February, 2022.  Wilson Police Officer, Tyler Skinner, reported that he had been shot in his chest by an unknown assailant and said he wasn’t injured because he had been wearing a ballistic vest. Right after the fake incident reportedly happened, the City of Wilson offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Tyler Skinner later admitted to the Wilson Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation that the shooting between him and an alleged suspect did not happen. The cause for the fabricated story is still unknown, however, the Wilson police chief, Kevin Coley he believed that it may be a mental health issue.
