C.O.P. Oklahoma is a Citizen Oversight of Police community project. Our goal is to help bridge the gap of transparency currently clouding our state's judicial branch, specifically our police officers.
We hope that by implementing a citizen's review board, independent of ANY policing agency, that the public will be able to put a voice to their interactions with law enforcement and bring to light the injustices that our communities endure on a daily basis.
Oklahoma is made up of many rural communities that come with a unique set of challenges when it comes to speaking out against police misconduct. Many times, your only choice is to complain to the very person who has already violated your rights. This has made gathering accurate data difficult because many individuals are not willing or able to brave the consequences of going against the small town Sheriff or his Deputies. History has taught them it can be fatal.
Let this project be a voice for the unheard!
