Statement

Chief Petersen was the third interim police chief for the Colbert Police Department in 2017 He was hired in September, despite having a prior arrest record, and having been terminated from the Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Office in 2016, according to KXII.  

2016 - He was fired from Pushmataha County Sheriff's Department for using his county vehicle for personal use.

Another incident he allegedly was responsible for causing an Antlers. OK officer to chrase his vehicle as he was pursuing Petersen, who was responding to a call in his personal vehicle.  The officer's vehicle was totaled.

2011 - Petersen was arrested for embezzlement after admitting to the theft of a laptop, toys and food from a Walmart he worked at.  Charges were later dismissed.
