As Sheriff of Marshall County, Donald Yow, is ultimately responsible for all personnel hired for the Sheriff's department, including the county's dispatchers.  Recently [summer of 2023] Sheriff Yow approved the hiring of a former Bryan County deputy recently decertified by CLEET, Timothy Steely.

Law enforcement dispatchers are usually subjected to extensive back round checks due to the sensitive and personal information the role is able to access on individuals via law enforcement databases utilized to preform their job duties.  Sheriff Yow, approved the hiring of Timothy Steely, despite a local tribal court granting a protective order against Steely for actions of harassment/stalking against a former girlfriend, and despite CLEET formally revoking his peace officer licensing in August of 2022.

Despite the former deputy's [publicly known] history of misconduct, Sheriff Yow placed him in a dispatch position at the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
