On October 4th, 2016, Assistant District Attorney Heather Cooper, under the District 20 District Attorney Craig Ladd, filed charges against former Carter County Sheriff Deputy Geary Williamson for one count of "Rape by Instrument" and one count "Sexual Battery". On May 1, 2017 a Summary of facts was filed in Carter County Case Record CF-2016-00620. The rape charge was dismissed as part of a plea deal and Williamson received 8 years probation.
Geary Williamsons arrest came just over 2 months after being listed as a state's witness against Love County Sheriff Marion Joe Russell in Love County Case Record CF-2016-00194.
Williamson also is required for the remainder of his lifetime to register as a sex offender.
