Complaint

Statement

On October 6th 2024 at about 7:05pm my safety and well being and those of my 3 children were violated by an Okaloosa County Sheriffs officer when he failed to make contact with me or my family upon responding to special requests to have an SO show up because he refused to speak with any Police. The call made was made directly outside of my residence in my driveway where he was parked unwanted I called FWBPD and they said they were sending someone. A few minutes go by and a Sheriff SUV creeps up along my sidewalk with dim lights. He gets and disappears somewhere out of view with Laboy and proceeds to only help him, make contact with him, and answer legal questions. , The person who placed the call gets in their car and leaves. I patiently wait to receive help from this officer as I had called 911 only minutes prior. I had called 911 to report that my childrens father would not leave my house as I had told them I was in fear for myself and my children to go back with him due to cocaine use and Domestic Violence . The Sheriffs officer NEVER made contact, never stated he was at my residence, nor did he call or knock on my door and just drove away without ever even attempting to knock on my door or checking on my children or myself or asking if I even knew there was an individual in my driveway! Despite the complaint being about children. He did not even make me aware that 911 call had been made at my residence by an individual sitting in their truck with their headlights blaring in my window. He did not give me the opportunity to explain that I had called 911 already on that same individual minutes before and that I wanted him formerly warned with a no trespassing! Finally FWBPD dispatch called to let know they were on their way. I was frantic on the phone with them asking are you sure because they just left and drove away and never talked to me! At that time the Sheriff Aaron Ethridge whose name I only discovered by filing a complaint turned around when he saw FWBPD driving down the road when he was at the stop sign after driving away. He stated that he was only there because the perpetrator Alan Laboy specifically called and requested an Okaloosa County Sheriffs officer and said he refused to speak with the police department. Which is who I called to approach him! I had already relayed to the dispatcher on the phone that Alan has familial connections with Nolan Weeks a previous sheriff for Okaloosa County as well as the head of the Crestview Jail. Alan Laboy had threatened the use of his brothers influence with the sheriff's department aver me for 10 years. His brother Nolan Weeks has already abused his power as Sheriff before and intervened in another po ice matter involving myself in 2012 per his brothers request. So I already did not feel safe or protected. Especially to physically see that he was able to request an officer to my home received advice and for both of them to drive away without ever thinking to inform the resident of the home there had been a call made. My fear is hat this officer is neglecting a duty to protect and serve, showing extreme bias and is willing to only do the bare minimum in providing any safety measures. ,and showing favoritism in choosing who to respond to in a potential domestic dispute. If I had never made the 911 call and been asleep I would have never known that Alan Laboy was on my property or that he spoke with a sheriff officer in my driveway and they both silently drive away?. That is exactly how battered women get abused and murdered by complete disregard and negligence on on providing duty of care and a proper way of conducting an investigation or dispute.

That means Alan could have come right back to my house and hurt me or my children based on what this of officer did. He did not attempt to contact ne own home at my residence where this man was making phone calls from my driveway. The officer never gave me an opportunity to llet him know that I wanted him trespassed or that I was in foar for my safety and my childrens. I did some investigation of my own up on learning the officers name and if it is infact the same officer I am shocked, disgusted and appalled that he would be able to wear a badge for Okaloosa County or for any law enforcement agency. I believe this officer is the same Aaron Ethridge who was terminated for Walton County sex Scandal involving threats against fellow officers and their wives and has a history of beaking policies. This comes as another huge shock as I learned he was in fact an Investigator for Domestic Violence unit. I spoke with his Captain, Captain Rewis when I filed a complaint. And he stated that officer had no responsibility to contact me on my own property or check on my safety or even talk to me even though it was my home where he called from. Captain Rewis could not consider or even realize how dangerous this lack of disregard was. All it would have taken for officer Ethridge was give extra steps to knock on my door to ask one question. He is putting every community member at risk especially domestic violence victims and vulnerable individuals such as children. The slogan for the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office is Honored to Serve, Duty to Protect not Duty to Protect at a bare minimum. Based on his previous history of breaking policies and conduct unbecoming of an officer I believe he showed extreme bias for the situation as he was only there to help one person by special request. And that his previous threats of violence to his own deputies and their families makes me feel threatened to even complain. That I myself and my family will face retaliation by that officer the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Officer and I fear the involvement of Nolan Weeks as well as the jail and OCS office are frequently involved and he has many many connections to other law enforcement agencies and employees.

I have also filed a complaint directly with the Okaloosa county Sheriff's office and am seeking legal council. Captain Rewis said this officer did nothing wrong and that he as I quote "skimmed over the policies" and it doesn't seem like they did anything wrong. If that is true then God willing there needs to be a policy revision. Never in my life have ever heard of law enforcement not making contact with the person who lives at the residence where the 911 call is coming from. And attempt to rush the perpetrator off before the Police Department I called could speak with him or warn him of trespassing. Because Alan wanted to abuse the power of another previous shady Okaloosa County Sheriff officer.

The evidence included is the article about Aaron Ehtirdges termination. He also had the gaul to ignore a potential domestic dispute that night even though he was a previous Domestic Violence investigator and knew the risks of escalation as he stated in an interview he game for another local newspaper. He absolutely knew what to do and chose not to because it was his bare minimum and he showed bias by only choosing to speak with one individual and ignore checking on the safety of three children and myself at the very least a courtesy! He also claimed to his Captain that he had no idea another 911 call had been placed to the same address further explaining why he just drove away silently. Anybody in that situation could have been significantly harmed as he did not contact me to ask what was going on in my home, the home he chose to respond to for an individual who didn't even live there and never had.
