To ensure fair trials the Supreme Court of the United States created the Brady doctrine obligating the prosecutor of every case to investigate, gather, and disclose all information about any individual upon whose testimony they will rely.
The Alabama Brady List is the definitive public-facing platform of record for information about officer misconduct, decertification, public complaints, use-of-force reports, do-not-call listings [Giglio letter], and more potential impeachment disclosures.
This platform is available as-a-service to all Peace Officer Standards & Training [POST] Departments, Prosecutors, and Law Enforcement Organizations [LEOrgs].
The Alabama Public Records Law under Al. Code §36-12-40 grants citizens the right to inspect and copy public writings. Pursuant to the statute, every citizen has a right to inspect and take a copy of any public writing of the state, except as otherwise expressly provided by statute.
