My abusive husband John Knapp still my truck a 98 Ford ranger along with the title to the truck. The truck was titled in my maiden name Christine Warth. Iowa code 597.2. When the deputy finally arrived , I was star gazing, and the deputy immediately went to John's garage. John lied and told the deputy he"sold it to a guy in Burlington" . The deputy, his superior, and the county attorney all determined it was a civil case. If I owned the truck before I was married, my husband had no right to do anything with it. And sell it for scrap he did not. In fact John forged my signature on the title and targeted it into his name 2 months after I reported it stolen. I reported fraud claim to Iowa DOT and the agent decided to agree with the county attorney Darin Stater, claiming it was civil. The truck was mine before I married John. John never paid me the value of the truck, $3000, and he lied to the sheriff and county attorney about seeking it and scraping it. Because the title teacher I also have photos of the truck parked in John's brothers driveway 3 months after I reported. I've attached the DOT investigation, the photos of the truck in December 2022, and the inadequate investigation done by Henry County Sheriff. The Iowa law, Ch. 597.2 clearly states anything a woman owns prior to marriage is hers. I paid $3000 for that truck and my husband ADMITTED to taking my truck and LIED ABOUT SELLING IT. DARIN STATER allowed this crime to be committed against me. He also allowed John Knapp to sign my name on my truck title and transfer title into his name.
