Body cam footage of Ardmore Police Department traffic stop of Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant on January 14, 2024. Bryant was alleged to be traveling at 70 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. Bryant, who had his minor daughter in the vehicle, acknowledged that he had been stopped for speeding by the same officer at least 6 times since he was elected sheriff in 2017. When asked what it was going to take to get him to slow down, Bryant responded by telling the officer to just write him "the fucking ticket."

This is the SECOND video of Bryant's unbecoming conduct for his refusal to obey traffic laws... yet the stop indicates he has been repeatedly been violating the law, depite his oath to uphold it.

It's clear any lesson gained from his previous brady list entry has since been lost on him.

Law enforcement personnel are held to personal standards higher than other members of our communities. Conduct unbecoming has been a common and historical charge used in controlling and censuring police officers and other public employees, for both on and off duty actions.

Oklahoma Open Records Act

Title 51 Oklahoma Statutes § 24A.1 et seq.

The Oklahoma Open Records Act is a series of laws designed to guarantee that public has access to all public records of governmental bodies. Section 24A.2 defines records as "all documents, including, but not limited to, any book, paper, photograph, microfilm, data files created by or used with computer software, computer tape, disk, and record, sound recording, film recording, video record or other material regardless of physical form or characteristic, created by, received by, under the authority of, or coming into the custody, control or possession of public officials, public bodies, or their representatives in connection with the transaction of public business, the expenditure of public funds or the administering of public property." This specifically includes all records of the transfer of public funds.

According to the Oklahoma Open Records Act, anyone may request public records and no statement of purpose is required. However, if the purpose is commercial, fees will be charged for document collection. There is no restriction on the use of records and the law does not specify a time limit for responses to requests.
