On May 4th 2009, Trooper Martin pulled over an ambulance that had a patient in the back headed to a medical care facility. Upon conducting the traffic stop, he disregarded the urgency of getting the patient care, escalated the situation into a use of force, resulting in Trooper Martin utilizing a chokehold on the paramedic that attempted to explain the necessity of getting the patient medical care was of a higher priority. Trooper Martin was suspended without pay for 5 days for "conduct unbecoming".
