Statement

On January 22, 2022 - a US Airforce Veteran was outside Alliance Health Durant Hospital in Bryan County, OK exercising his 1st Amendment Right to film in public.  Sheriff Gary Dodd approached the door of the hospital while announcing to his Deputies: "Watch out for him, he's recording us, IDIOT".

The contempt for a citizen filming in public speaks volumes!  It should also be mentioned that Deputies for the Johnston County Sheriff's Department did confirm via social media posts of the video that the ELECTED Sheriff was in fact at the Hospital that day conducting his elected duties, therefore the Veteran had a Constitutional right under the 1st Amendment to capture the attached video.

Also note:  Johnston County Sheriff's Department Body Camera Policy dating as far back as 2014 -  dictates that body cameras are to "be carried by all deputies while on duty". - Sheriff Dodd as well as one of the two Deputies with him that day did NOT have on a body worn camera as policy dictates they should.

Definition of Offense(s)

Law enforcement personnel are held to personal standards higher than other members of our communities. Conduct unbecoming has been a common and historical charge used in controlling and censuring police officers and other public employees, for both on and off duty actions.
