Phoenix Police Officers Luis Vasquez Jr. and Antonio Felix, both assigned to the South Mountain Precinct, are under criminal investigation for their conduct during an unreported August 5, 2026 traffic stop near 19th Avenue and Broadway Road. Phoenix Police confirmed that the officers used force, failed to report that force as required by department policy, and did not activate their body-worn cameras. The Tempe Police report records that the man and woman stopped by the officers reported being punched, tased, restrained, held at gunpoint, and threatened during the encounter. Both officers were placed on administrative leave, while the Phoenix Police Special Investigations Detail conducts the criminal investigation and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office assesses their participation in pending criminal cases for potential disclosure consequences.
