Official Statement
Timothy Ryan Gregg is a 51-year-old Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent and FBI Task Force Officer based in Eagan, Minnesota, who was charged on June 4, 2025, via a federal complaint with producing child sexual abuse material. According to court records, Gregg allegedly coerced and enticed a 17-year-old girl—whom he met through Tinder—to engage in sexually explicit conduct at a Rochester-area hotel at least nine times between early March and late May, using his official government email to book the rooms. The case began when the minor’s father discovered explicit images and videos on her phone and alerted law enforcement, prompting a prompt investigation by Rochester Police Department and FBI Minneapolis. Gregg was arrested on June 3 and appeared in federal court on June 4 before Magistrate Judge Dulce J. Foster, who ordered him held without bail pending further proceedings. Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson emphasized that the swift action reflects accountability for individuals in public trust who commit crimes against vulnerable children, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. condemned the conduct as a “gross violation” of law enforcement responsibilities. The investigation remains ongoing, and while these serious allegations are pending, Gregg is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
