Robert Brooks, a 43-year-old inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in New York, died on December 10, 2024, following a violent encounter with correctional officers. Brooks was serving a 12-year sentence for first-degree assault.

On December 9, 2024, Brooks was transferred from Mohawk Correctional Facility to Marcy Correctional Facility. Upon arrival, he was taken to the infirmary, where multiple correctional officers subjected him to a prolonged and brutal assault. Body-worn camera footage, later released by the New York Attorney General's Office, shows Brooks, restrained with handcuffs and leg irons, being repeatedly punched, kicked, and choked by the officers.
