Statement

Re: Trevor Merritt; Cocoa detective Sayge Gray has evidence that could potentially clear my son. The evidence has been in her possession since Nov 27, 2022 and has not been processed. On Dec 9, Trevor gave his DNA sample. He was fingerprinted during his arrest on 11/26 and none of this has been used. This could be exculpatory evidence. There was a loaded gun found in the car which belonged to his friend, they can compare prints and tell if the gun was recently fired.. being that there were NO shell casings at the scene …there was a black hoodie in the car, they haven’t compared DNA, there was a shoe print at the scene which wasn’t compared to Trevor’s. He was never checked for GSR and did not fit the description at the time of arrest. That leads me to Cocoa officer Kyle McNamara. He signed a sworn affidavit stating Trevor had on dark pants when he arrested him and yesterday in court under oath said it was dark jeans. Neither is the truth. Pictures, police boy cam shows Trevor in a white shirt, light jeans, brown shoes. TWO Witnesses described the shooter wearing ALL black. Fired brevard sheriff deputy Andrew Lawson WATCHED a male in all black flee the scene and did not pursue him. My son was not provided his due diligence and this case has not been investigated properly which is police neglect. He’s now being held without bond. Thank you for your time.
