On 12/21/2021, Glenn County Sheriff's Office swore in John Sanzone a former police officer with Oroville Police Department. John Sanzone has been investigated several times: he owned a home that went into foreclosure in Live Oak CA. Although he had stopped paying on the house, he continued to rent it out. He brought pirated movies into the Oroville police department to watch while on duty. He had an IA regarding collecting a gas stipend from the city when he didn't qualify due to having a take home car. He was told while the IA was active not to talk but he immediately talked. DA's office looked into him multiple times for falsifying reports. He was sued in 2017 and lost. He's currently named in multiple lawsuits. My understanding is that he is now Brady Listed. Glenn County Sheriffs Office promoted Jon Owens due to a personal friendship with the Sheriff Rich Warren to Sergeant. Jon had been talked to a number of times due to officer safety concerns, having relations with his now wife Kim Owens on duty and allowing family to shoot his full auto department issued AR. Rich Warren got rid of Dusty Ledfl a background investigator because he didn't recommend officers who had a domestic violence and child abuse cases like deputy Alberto Vargas who Glenn County Sheriffs Office hired. This Deputy's child's mother has reported him stocking her and GCSO has done nothing. So Rich put Jon through background investigation school. Everyone liked John Sanzone because they became drinking buddies with him. They are also all white males. Jon hired John Sanzone and ignored everything in his background despite the fact he's basically a criminal. Jason Dahl is the undersheriff who has also filed for bankruptcy multiple times and sleeps with his subordinates wives. He was really excited to bring John Sanzone on board because they had become friends. Rich supports and has created an environment where this eternal corruption is fostered. His previous undersheriff Todd James was a drunk and would drive under the influence all the time. He personally told Alberto Varges he would get him out of his DV charges so that he could be hired as a deputy. A former retired Sgt Sharon O'quin had substantiated the DV in her background of Alberto Varges for the Glenn County Sheriff's Office after Alberto was fired from Chico Police Department. Soon after they relieved Sharon of her duties. A google search of John Sanzone will bring up the lawsuits against him.
