Statement
This morning Officer Starkov pulled me over between Santa Monica and Beverly Blvd stating that he had saw me using my cell phone. This is false and made me significantly late to work. If the allegations had been true then I would've just continued to work knowing it was my fault but that is not applicable here. Police officers should not be able to inconvenience citizens for no reason or to meet some sort of "quota" at the end of the month. This stop was a complete waste of my and other tax paying dollars. I have NEVER been stopped for using my phone because I simply do not. All of my electronics are hands free and I will be trying to get involved in the ongoing discrimination case that the BHPD has going due to this incident. Our homelessness is a huge problem, not the African American tax payer on her way to work. Traffic Str. Kim advised that the phone in addition the device must be in hand which is definitely not the case here. I will follow up today with my dash cam footage to the police department. Although I was inconvenienced and made late for work, I am sure he will not receive any consequences for doing so but I will try to ensure that something comes out of this even if I have to call everyday. Police officers should have consequences for wasting citizens time.
