Statement

The Adams County Prosecutor has weaponized the Brady list to silence and punish political opponents of the Sheriff and himself. The Prosecutor has publicly expressed his disdain for the challenging person in the Adams County Sheriff's race. It is my opinion, that he violated RCW 42.17A.555, and I have filed a separate PDC complaint regarding that. The other concern is that the prosecutor has added the challenger to the Brady list and the timing seems uncanny. This challenger did not seem to have any major issues as a law enforcement office, both in the military and in the public law enforcement arena, until he placed his name on the ballot. The prosecutor has since added an additional "allegation" of "misrepresenting information to the Public Disclosure Commission". Having said that, there is no record at the PDC nor any formal notices from the PDC to the candidate that accuses him of doing so. There is, however, a PDC complaint that was filed for not putting an "R" on his campaign signs, which was discussed and quickly remedied. Per the PDC, that is a common mistake in "New" candidates and not something they really find egregious, unless the violation persists. With that, the precedent being set, is that PDC complaints/allegations are reason enough to be placed on a list that may ruin a career. This list is a very important tool to keep bad cops from hurting the citizens. By weaponizing this, it bleeds all credibility away from the list and can have long lasting impacts on the community at large. With this information, I would like to let you know, that the incumbent Sheriff has a PDC complaint on file and any other law enforcement officials that receive PDC complaints, by the Prosecutors actions, should be placed on the Brady list. If this is in actuality, is a Brady offense. I have a voice memo and video that illustrates Randy's (Prosecutor) disdain for the challenging candidate, I have video of the meeting that was held during an Open Public Meeting for the Adams County Commissioners. I also have attached the PDC complaint against the incumbent Sheriff, that by the prosecutor's judgement, should be reason enough to add the sheriff to the list. The conduct of the prosecutor toward other law enforcement officers that have "crossed" the county or the Sheriff, is egregious and riddled with malice. I would really appreciate your investigation into these actions, as they run very deep within the County and the Republican Committee and its members here in Adams County. My concerns are based on my observations and I have am not filing this complaint on anybody's behalf. I am filing this complaint in hopes to salvage any validity in the tool, that is the Brady list, that can be used to protect the citizens from bad law enforcement agents.
