On July 19, 2016 an Accusation for Removal was filed against Marion Joe Russell in Love County Case Record CV-2016-00023 as a result of testimony received during the State of Oklahoma's Fifteenth Multicounty Grand Jury, Oklahoma County Case Record GJ-2014-1.
The accusations charged were:
- COUNT 1 - Corruption in Office
- COUNT 2 - Habitual or Willful Neglect of Duty
- COUNT 3 - Corruption in Office
A settlement agreement was filed on 10/11/2016 whereas Russell would resign as Sheriff of Love County Effective 10/31/2016 in exchange for the State of Oklahoma dismissing the Accusation for Removal.
