Description: Sheriff’s Officer Jesus Nieves was assigned to work a shift at a rehabilitation Center. Officer Nieves was to provide custody of an inmate, incarcerated at the Cumberland County Department of Corrections, who was a patient at the rehabilitation center. During his shift, Officer Nieves removed his duty belt, with weapon, baton, handcuffs, and OC (pepper) spray attached, and placed all on the empty bed next to the inmate. He then rested his feet on the empty bed, while sitting in a chair, and went to sleep.
