Description: On January 26, 2023, an internal investigation was directed regarding Detective Watkins' neglect of duty for failure to conduct a proper investigation. It was discovered that Det. Watkins failed to
sign criminal complaints against a defendant for over two and half months. A collateral issue was identified after an audit of Det. Watkins’ active cases. It was discovered that Detective Watkins failed to give suitable attention to eighty‐two (82) active investigations and failed to adequately document or
complete reports in a timely manner after being directed to so on numerous occasions by his supervisor. This caused those matters to have be reassigned to other detectives for completion.
